    Mackinaw Island is definitely not a 'budget' destination. First you have to get over having to pay money (on the ferry) to go to a place to spend money (the shopping, especially the fudge). For some people the horses are a large part of the charm, but for those with dogs or people that really dislike the smell it would probably be a better place without the horses. We have been there a number of times, on our most recent trip we rented bikes to go around the island (Mark's brother went with us and he brought his dog for bikejorring). It was a very nice bike ride but certainly not cheap. More expensive than Disney? That is difficult to believe. Especially since a single ticket for a single person for a single day at Disney costs from $109 to $200. An adult ticket on Sheppler's Ferry is currently $32. There are many other Michigan destinations that offer more value for the money, however, depending on what a person is looking for.

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple 5 часов назад

      Thank you for watching our video. We do know that visiting anywhere will have costs, we travel quite often. The smell of the horse droppings took us by surprise as the weekend we visited the island there was no one there to pick up after the horses and we went while it was super hot outside so it was extra fragrant, it's not the end of the world. This video is just us sharing our experience at the island, as all of the other videos we've seen just say that Mackinac Island is magical, so this is why we wanted to see it and experience it for ourselves. We felt that we should share all of the experiences we had and not hold back or lie. For us, Disney is different, we know it's horribly overpriced, but we own a house near Disney World so we pay for our annual pass monthly and not all at once, we visit when we want and get free parking as part of our pass, plus other discounts. So for us, Disney is really cheap, we know that wont be the case for others. Being from Alaska, most of our family and friends back home haven't traveled much, so we wanted to share what we experienced. We did buy some fudge from one of the many local shops, it was delicious. We have a dog, if you've seen us on our other social media platforms, you'll see her, she is a 8 year old rottweiler. She wouldn't fair going up on the hills of the island, so she was in the RV close by, so we didn't stay the night, she had two ACL surgeries when she was 1 & 1 1/2, so this would be hard for her to walk all day. We have other RV friends from Michigan who have seen our video and have offered to take us on a proper tour but in a different time of year, so we'll be back, when our schedule permits it. Thank you once again for watching our video, have a wonderful day.

We got the generators at Costco one at a time when they were on sale, and we bought the parallel kit so we could get 50amp out of it, works great. You don't need solar with these two generators, we already had the generators before we got solar, but it will help top off our batteries on those not so sunny days or when we use them up for air conditioners, etc.

We would recommend that you take the class and help build your solar system because then you know your system inside and out, so if something happens on the road, you aren't stuck waiting on a tech and you can manage it yourself. Chris learned so much when he went to the solar class almost two years ago, it help him to have that knowledge with our solar build. A couple of observations. Every solar system needs to be designed to meet a "fit for purpose" application. It would be good if you follow up this video with your expectations from the system, what RV electrical appliances you intend to run on the system, and does it do what you expected. Also explain what you intended by putting this system inside the house, most people want their inside storage for food and daily living items, does this mean you displaced those items into your storage compartments? After using it for a few weeks, tell people what you can and can't do with this system, how often are you plugging into shore power/generator to recharge, and how long it will run on its own. This system is around $20,000 installed, how much energy demand do you typically use KWh? Any thoughts on the timeframe to recoup that cost, and how long do you plan to keep the same RV? Does a portion of the investment get lost when you trade it in? What do you expect to use after peak panel input around 4pm? And at night after dusk? Your subscribers will benefit from some honest feedback, in my opinion is this system may be a little small for full-timers, maybe enough for boon dockers/weekenders up north.

      Absolutely love the feedback. We are going to be doing a full install tour with all of the details in the next couple weeks. We did add 800watts of additional panels and did a lot of work on the cooling system for the inverters. Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel.

      Thank you for watching our video, our peanut butter is safe from the heat because this video was just the solar build. We've been working on other solar stuff and our tweaks that wasn't a part of the solar class that we'll share in a future video. We will also have that in our updated solar video with what we did and how it's been working and our thoughts on the Big Beard Batteries.

    Is it better to buy a trailer that has solar set up on it already or add on solar after a purchase of a trailer ? Which way is cheaper?

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple 3 дня назад

      Thank you for watching our video, it depends on how you would use the solar system & what the previous owners had already installed, it may not fit your needs. On the other hand, it could be cheaper, but it depends on how you would need the solar set up, such as overnight dry camping or boondocking for weeks, etc… the quality of the solar system on a used RV, or lack there of. How was the knowledge of the previous RV owner (did they install their own solar system & no training or research OR a professional installation). This is a tough question to answer for someone else as we don’t know your camping style, but hope this helps guide you to what you are looking for in a solar system.

    We actually put our batteries and such in a kitchen cabinet on our travel trailer too. Keeps the batteries warm in the winter and cooler in the summer.

      Our back side dinette storage is useless for normal use. I'd be happy to put batteries there. Still accessible but not using space we normally use.

      Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. We have been really happy with the placement. We are working on a full tour video and a lot of cooling since the inverters get toasty in the cabinet.

    Very nice solar system. I don’t agree with the multiplus inverters facing each other in the pantry. I understand your options were limited. Big Beard batteries are awesome!

    What this looks like to me is logical weight management, closer to the axles on the multi plus and the batteries, the rest up front to lessen hitch weight vs Batteries/inverters, etc.... I love this idea, and am going to remember it. Only thing is pantry loss in the bottom, but really not an issue. You all did a great use of both weight and space. Please let us know how the axle weights turn out on the cat once it's all installed. I'd be interested in seeing how much head room you will have there. Gives me ideas on the 32RLS I plan on getting soon. Great Video. Thanks for sharing it.

    • @VenturesomeCouple
      @VenturesomeCouple 2 часа назад

      Thank you for watching our video and supporting our channel. We were not given this system. The labor/install was part of the Solar Class build so we did not have to factor in that cost. The parts were about $15k with easy starts, and MicroAir thermostats.
